Springer Nature’s Indian sub­si­di­ar­ies, Springer Nature Tech­no­logy and Pub­lish­ing Solu­tions (SNTPS) in Pune and Sci­entific Pub­lish­ing Ser­vices (SPS), based in Chen­nai, are lead­ers in the pre-media field. Both com­pan­ies offer ser­vices such as pro­ject man­age­ment, type­set­ting for books, peri­od­ic­als and journ­als, image pro­cessing design and pre-print­ing solu­tions for all areas of the pub­lish­ing industry. SNTPS and SPS are vital part­ners for print and online pub­lish­ing in Eng­lish, Ger­man and Dutch.

Our sub­si­di­ar­ies offer a selec­ted group of open-minded stu­dents and uni­versity gradu­ates intern­ships at SNTPS/SPS, giv­ing them the oppor­tun­ity to gain fas­cin­at­ing insights into busi­ness and cul­ture in India. By integ­rat­ing interns into work­ing life in India, we con­trib­ute to inter­cul­tural under­stand­ing, a goal which is also sup­por­ted by par­ti­cip­a­tion in a social devel­op­ment pro­ject.

The Cross-Cul­tural Intern­ship Pro­gram, set up in 2006, is unique in the pub­lish­ing industry.

We are look­ing for:

STU­DENTS/UNI­VERSITY GRADU­ATES (m/f/d) from the areas print pro­duc­tion, print and media tech­no­logy, digital media, media design/media stud­ies, graphic design, inform­at­ics or the human­it­ies, such as Ger­man/Dutch stud­ies or Indo­logy. We also have range for applic­ants from nat­ural sci­ences, eco­nom­ics and other vari­ous fields.

Interns in Pub­lish­ing - Cross-Cul­tural Intern­ship in India - Feb­ru­ary 2020

What you can expect:

You will famil­i­ar­ize your­self with the func­tions and work pro­cesses at one of the pub­lish­ing industry’s lead­ing ser­vice pro­viders. Dur­ing your intern­ship you will assist our employ­ees in the pre-edit­ing, pagin­a­tion, graphic and manuscript and mar­ket­ing ser­vices in vari­ous pre-media pro­jects. Your duties will include:

  • text pro­cessing, espe­cially proofread­ing and lan­guage check­ing
  • check­ing the lay­out and style of doc­u­ments accord­ing to spe­cific­a­tions
  • Ger­man/Dutch to Eng­lish trans­la­tions
  • sup­port­ing the pro­duc­tion team in coordin­at­ing and doc­u­ment­ing Ger­man/Dutch pro­jects
  • data val­id­a­tion and backup
  • pro­duc­tion-related com­mu­nic­a­tion and fol­low-up with our Ger­man/Dutch cus­tom­ers
  • con­duct­ing and improv­ing a Ger­man/Dutch lan­guage train­ing pro­gram for Indian col­leagues

Require­ments:

What you bring with you:

  • excel­lent writ­ten and verbal com­mu­nic­a­tion skills in Ger­man/Dutch and Eng­lish. Other lan­guages are an advant­age
  • prac­tical exper­i­ence in the pub­lish­ing industry is desir­able
  • inter­cul­tural and social skills gained through work­ing or study­ing abroad
  • par­tic­u­lar interest in Indian cul­ture
  • flex­ib­il­ity and the abil­ity to integ­rate

What we of­fer:

The groups start in Feb­ru­ary and August each year. We are cur­rently look­ing for the 28th group to start end of Feb­ru­ary 2020. Clos­ing date for applic­a­tions is Novem­ber 21, 2019.

Num­ber of interns: 10-12; Dur­a­tion: 6 or 9 months

Pay­ment: In addi­tion to an appro­pri­ate monthly pay­ment, we will cover your travel costs and accom­mod­a­tion costs in India. We also offer inter­est­ing excur­sions, paid by us.

„Intern Visa“ reg­u­la­tions: Whether the applic­ant is ful­filling the require­ments for an intern visa or not will be veri­fied by us in advance.
