The Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden – in short IFW Dresden – is a non-university research institute and a member of the Leibniz Association. The Institute for Theoretical Solid State Physics in the IFW Dresden needs support with administration of Debian-based HPC cluster (~160 knots) and the design of workplace computers.
This can be small or larger projects in the area of
Adaption of quantum chemical programmes to the existing environment (compiler, MPI)
Automation of installations with FAI (fai-project.org)
Tuning and upgrading of operation system (drivers, networking)
Documentation (Wiki) for users
Design of dual-OS-workplaces with integration into central infrastructure.
We are looking for a student with
Linux command line experience
Knowledge of common network services
Ability of self-controlled work
With the understanding, that documentation is necessary for good sustainable work.
