Fraunhofer-Institut für Organische Elektronik, Elektronenstrahl- und Plasmatechnik FEP - precision coating
The Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology FEP is located in Dresden and focuses on developing innovative solutions, technologies and processes for surface modification and organic electronics.
Our core technologies are electron beam technology, sputtering technology, plasma-activated high-rate deposition, high-rate PECVD, and technologies for organic electronics and IC-/System design, which we use to develop solutions for various industrial tasks in surface treatment, vacuum coating and for organic semiconductors.
As of January 2020 we at Fraunhofer FEP offer an exciting position in the field of precision coating as
Scientist (m/f/v) as a group leader
In the field of precision coating, scientific questions are combined with technical know-how. For the establishment of a new working group, we are looking for a group leader from presumably January 2020.
Within the new group, a magnetron sputtering-based process for the deposition of epitaxial thin films on substrates will be developed, tested for applications in micro- and nanoelectronics and accompanied by corresponding material developments. For this purpose, appropriate apparatus structures must first be set up and optimized in cooperation with experienced colleagues. Subsequently, starting with fundamental investigations, concrete applications must be brought to industrial maturity.
Your tasks include, among other things:
Establishment of a working group
Technical and organizational management of the working group
Project acquisition (public funding projects and industrial projects)
Supervision of doctoral students and students
Experimental work on test facilities
Expertise in the fields of thin film technology, epitaxy and microelectronics
Successful university degree in physics, electrical engineering/electronics, materials science or comparable to a completed doctorate or comparable achievement.
Very good communication skills in English and preferably also in German.
Several years of knowledge and experience in scientific and application-oriented work as well as in project acquisition with demonstrable achievements (publications, patents, ...)
An open manner and the ability to approach potential partners and get them excited about issues.
Committed and self-reliant way of working
Creativity, organizational competence, reliability and open willingness to discuss
Research desire and creative will, result and application orientation
You should be able to work under pressure, be flexible and enjoy working with people and having leadership responsibilities. Your working style should be characterized by the contribution of your own ideas and accuracy in the processing of the tasks that arise.
Furthermore, we expect strong organizational skills, team spirit and a competent and committed manner in dealing with international scientists, customers and public institutions/sponsors.
